1-1/4 cups lightly packed brown sugar, divided

Step 1
Cream cream cheese and 1 cup brown sugar with electric mixer until smooth. Mix in egg and milk.
Step 2
Stir in dry ingredients and apple. Mix until just incorporated, batter will be lumpy. Spoon into 12 greased muffin cups. Sprinkle with remaining brown sugar.
Step 3
Bake at 400°F for 30 min. or until golden brown and cake tester inserted in the centre of a muffin comes out clean.
